Open Foundation Model Risk and Benefits: A Conversation on Government Policy and AI Innovation
IBM Government Affairs, IBM Research Cambridge, and the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab are proud to host a public briefing event on Thursday, September 12 from 1-2 pm at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab located at 314 Main St., Cambridge, MA 02142 or online. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information and Administrator, National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Alan Davidson (MIT ‘89) is coming to speak on NTIA’s recently-issued policy recommendations embracing openness in artificial intelligence (AI) while calling for active monitoring of risks in powerful AI models. The briefing will be followed by a panel discussion and open Q&A. The panel discussion with Alan Davidson, will also include MIT Professor Asu Ozdaglar, MIT EECS Department Head, and MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Deputy Dean of Academics, Sara Fraim, CEO of Mass Tech Leadership Council, and David Cox, IBM VP of AI Models and IBM Director of the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab.
