Digital Programs

MIT Professional Education Digital Programs aims to deliver timely, relevant programs to a global audience using online platforms, including the open-sourced online education platform developed by edX.

The first course launched was Tackling the Challenges of Big Data, which featured 12 faculty experts from the world-renowned Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in MIT’s School of Engineering. Feature offerings are planned from all five MIT schools.

Digital Programs participants have diverse personal, business, and academic backgrounds and hail from both the U.S. and around the globe. They include scientists, engineers, technicians, managers, consultants, and others, and they come from industry, government, the military, non-profit, and academia.

The benefits of online learning include a flexible schedule that allows busy professionals to take courses at their own convenience; access to advanced professional training from MIT faculty without the need for travel to the MIT campus; and networking opportunities with a diverse population of fellow participants.
